Cate Lemmond
President, Chief Executive Officer 

Cate Lemmond is founding President and CEO of the Anicira Veterinary Centers.  Since starting in this position in January of 2005, Cate has worked to improve the lives of people and animals in Virginia.   During this time, the clinics have seen major growth both in the number of animals served and the breadth of services provided.  

Cate received a MS in public policy and animals from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and a BA in government from the University of Virginia. Cate is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) as well as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM). She shares her life with her husband Marc and their two mixed breed adopted dogs Ari and Adelaide.


Sarah Sari
Chief Operating Officer

Sarah Sari is the COO of the Anicira Veterinary Centers in Harrisonburg and Manassas, and helped to open the Manassas location in 2012. Sarah has over 11 years of professional experience in animal welfare and veterinary hospital operations.  

Sarah graduated from the College of Charleston with a BS in Sociology.  She began her journey in animal welfare at a nationally recognized no-kill animal shelter in Charlottesville, VA.  She has since incorporated her experiences in animal sheltering, small animal general practice, and non-profit spay/neuter clinic operations to lead an organization that continues to have a remarkable impact on the lives of animals and the community.    

Sarah lives in historic Herndon with her musically talented and tech-savvy husband, Tyler, and their goofy rescue pup, Cooper.    


Megan Oelstrom, DVM
Veterinarian In Charge 

Dr. Oelstrom has been the Veterinarian in Charge at Anicira Veterinary Center since October 2013. Previously, she worked as a shelter veterinarian and surgeon in Wisconsin. Megan received a BA in biology from the University of Virginia in 2005 and earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. 

She has exhibited a passion for surgery and helping animals in need since veterinary school. During that time, she volunteered with the Rural Area Veterinary Service providing spay/neuter and vaccine clinics in remote areas of the United States. After graduation she completed a small animal rotating internship at Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia.

Megan feels blessed to be able to help animals in our community by providing affordable surgical services.


Robyn O’Kane, DVM, PhD, MBA
Associate Veterinarian  

Dr. O’Kane joined the Anicira team after moving from Colorado. She received her BS in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University, a PhD in Physiology from the Chicago Medical School, and her MBA and DVM from Colorado State University.

Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. O'Kane taught Anatomy and Physiology to nursing students in Queens, NY, enjoying the diversity of the students and their learning styles. However, her love of animals finally trumped her love of teaching. Her personal mission is to help keep pets in their homes in order to reduce the relinquishment and euthanasia rates at overburdened shelters.

Dr. O'Kane is certified in veterinary acupuncture, cold-laser therapy, medical massage, and has completed all training in veterinary chiropractic medicine. She lives in Rixeyville with her rescue animals.


Julia Carter, DVM, CCRT, CVA
Associate Veterinarian 

Dr. Carter has practiced veterinary medicine in Northern Virginia since graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She developed a passion for veterinary medicine at the early age of 10.  She enjoys spending time with her son, her dog, Arya and her cat, Cho. She has been an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts and with her church’s youth group. She loves hiking and camping, reading, running and listening to bluegrass music in her spare time.

In addition to her love of surgery, she is certified in canine rehabilitation and veterinary acupuncture.


Cheyenne Nevada, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician 

Cheyenne has a diverse professional experience working with zoo animals, dolphin and marine mammal rescues and companion animals. She has also been involved in wildlife research and sea turtle conservation with the National Park Service.

After proudly serving our country in the U.S. Air Force, Cheyenne received her Associate in Applied Science degree from State University of New York - Canton.  After graduating from Armstrong Atlantic State University, she received her BS in Biology.

Cheyenne has three teenagers and a ten year old furry friend, all whom have traveled around the world.


Cinthya Guardamino Cespedes, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician 

Cinthya is originally from Lima, Peru where she grew up with a diverse assortment of pets, and developed a passion for animals in need. She moved to Virginia in 2005 where she began her education and journey as an animal care professional. 

Cinthya received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Sanford Brown College. She brings us numerous years of experience in veterinary medicine and she very much enjoys working with companion animals.

In her spare time, Cinthya loves spending time with her cat, Maury and Rottweiler, Kilo, as well as watching movies, being outside and enjoying nature.

Roberta Wilkinson, LVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician  

Roberta brings many years of experience in the veterinary field to Anicira.  Originally from Florida, Roberta began working in veterinary hospitals in 1998 and developed a strong passion for working with animals and the people who love them. Roberta graduated from Penn Foster with her degree in veterinary technology. 

Roberta has a special interest in educating clients on the importance of preventive care to keep their beloved pets happy and healthy.

In her spare time, Roberta takes business management classes in order to enhance her career and enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as two pups, two cats, and a guinea pig.
